my life, one day at a time

OMG it’s OCTOBER

It has just been absolutely crazy the past few weeks. It’s now 220am and I’m still up multi-tasking. Feeling like I’ve been up for days. Need to slow down a bit and get balance back.

Just TOO busy

It’s been crazy lately. Tons going on at work, travelling for three days next week. Finished one dragonfly project and starting another (small ones thankfully). Learning like 10 new things (computers/programming stuff). I need a break. (Not really, since I thrive on this sort of thing, but it is somewhat overwhelming).

Sometimes I do wonder what life would be like without all the computers phones and gadget goodness. Would life really be that much simpler? Would it be boring? What would I do with my time?

On the flip side, I can’t even image what it will be like for the kids when they get their first “real” jobs decades from now.

The one good thing about travel is the plane time gives me the opportunity to 1) sleep 2) think a quiet thought without interruption for at LEAST 5 minutes and 3) sleep. Sometimes it’s so bad that I can sleep through takeoff right up to touchdown (2-3 hour flight). Guess that means my body needs it, but heck, the mind over matter, right?

Video blog tomorrow.

Where does it end. A few weeks back I got turned-on (in true geek fashion) to the technology behind the popular blogging software WordPress. Having done a little bit of coding for fun here and there, I was floored by the simplicity and accessibility of these tools and now my brain hurts trying to take it all in.

I figured a long time ago that as you age, you become more sedentary in your thinking and begin to get used to things the way that they are and your “sphere” of knowledge flexes a bit, but generally stays about the same. Then you learn something completely new and for a while, your brain hurts (probably not really, but it feels that way). I think it’s from your brain having to shift how it thinks to accomodate the new information and how it could/would/should apply to other things related or not.

In any case, my brain hurts. EOM

Sweet Life just released!!

My sister is a writer (she goes by Mia King) and just released her second book! It’s called Sweet Life and it goes on sale today. I am very proud of her and in the day and age when published books rarely see the shelves of a retail store like Borders or Barnes & Noble, it’s amazing to walk in and see her book(s) sitting there. Both her and Darrin (her husband) have been able to grace the book tables and I couldn’t be more proud of that accomplishment. I know a lot of people who write and having a book published is a dream of theirs.

Anyhow, here’s a link to a Contest she’s got going as well as the link to the book on Amazon (in case you don’t actually go into a bookstore anymore). :) Please support them!!

The most awesomest thing EVER!

Ok, 12 minutes to go and I have to put this in to save it for eternity (or for however long I keep this running). I remember way back when I got my very first lego set. It was the Galaxy Explorer. I was reminded of this with a post on Gizmodo where a flurry of memories came rushing back.

Amazing post if you have any interest.

But now they have the most amazing sets, the pinnacle of which has got to be the Star Wars Death Star. I mean seriously, this has it all for Lego fans/Star Wars fans. I cannot wait for Ian to get older where I can get him toys that I can play with. ** I’m perfectly comfortable accepting this as a gift too!! :) **

Oh, and yes. I’m a total geek for still liking Legos, but I firmly believe that it is the root of my creative mind and my ability to construct/deconstruct life’s situations. So there!
